Armenia and the Belt and Road Initiative : Perspectives from Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia

As living, economic and cultural spaces, cities require a sustainable energy system and must be designed to be highly energy efficient. The book provides a framework for practitioners and scientists on how the energy transition can contribute to achieving climate goals in the building sector. Innovations and creative approaches for solutions from the lighthouse projects of the Solar Building/Energy Efficient City funding initiative are presented.
Dementia affects individuals with various symptoms such as memory loss, word-finding difficulties and inhibited thought processes. The condition requires an environment adapted to the abilities and deficits of those affected. This study focuses on the use of multisensory tools in German nursing homes to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia, with an emphasis of assessing willingness to pay. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among German long-term care facilities using an online questionnaire, to assess willingness to pay for a newly developed multisensory product - described as the treasure box (“Schatzkästchen”). The study identified an acceptable price range for the treasure box of 30 EUR and 70 EUR. The survey indicates a need for analogue, multisensory products that can be used to activate and relax individuals with dementia. The findings emphasise the importance of addressing tactile and visual senses and suggest that care must be taken when determining the price of such products, considering the limited payment willingness of German nursing homes.
Im Projekt »Digitalisierung der Hochschulbildung in Sachsen« widmete sich ein interdisziplinäres Team einem Scholarship-of-Academic-Development-Vorhaben. Trotz des Scheiterns dieses Scholarship-Vorhabens lieferte eine systematische Fehleranalyse mittels der Ishikawa-Methode wertvolle Erkenntnisse. Aus diesen werden Empfehlungen für zukünftige Projekte abgeleitet, um im Sinne einer reflexiven Fehlerkultur einen Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung hochschuldidaktischer (Forschungs-)Praxis zu leisten.
Im Projekt »Digitalisierung der Hochschulbildung in Sachsen« wurde das Weiterbildungsformat der Digital Workspaces etabliert, um die Kompetenzentwicklung und Unterstützung von Lehrenden voranzutreiben. Die Konzepte und Inhalte dieser Workshops wurden dokumentiert und als Open Educational Resources (OER) veröffentlicht. Ziel war es, praxis-nahe Anregungen zu bieten und die Nutzung durch verschiedene Akteure zu ermöglichen. Der Beitrag bietet einen Einblick in den Entstehungsprozess der Dokumentationen sowie hilfreiche Vorlagen und Muster. Er schließt mit zentralen Erkenntnissen zur Gestaltung und Umsetzung der Dokumentationen und ermutigt andere mit praktischen Hinweisen, eigene Ergebnisse und hochschuldidaktische Konzepte als OER zuteilen.
In den vergangenen Jahren haben Open Educational Resources (OER), forciert durch bildungspolitische Strategien und Initiativen von Bund und Ländern, an deutschen Hochschulen an Bedeutung gewonnen. In Kooperation der Hochschuldidaktik Sachsen, des Arbeitskreises E-Learning der Landesrektorenkonferenz Sachsen und der Sächsischen Landesbibliothek – Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden wurde eine Vorstudie für eine hochschulübergreifende OER-Initiative durchgeführt, um relevante Schlüsselfaktorenund geeignete Gestaltungsoptionen für die Initiative zu identifizieren und in einer Roadmap zusammenzufassen. Der vorliegende Beitrag stellt das Forschungsdesign und die Ergebnisse einer Delphi-Befragung mit sächsischen OER-Expert:innen vor und diskutiert Implikationen für eine OER-Initiative.
This case report presents the therapeutic effect of restorative neurostimulation (ReActiv8®) on chronic low back pain (CLBP) in a 44-year-old male, where the primary etiology was not lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Despite presenting with LDH at L4-L5, clinical valuations suggested lumbar microinstability and multifidus muscle dysfunction as the main contributors to his pain, without radicular symptoms. The patient had a 12-year history of CLBP, resistant to conventional treatments like physiotherapy, medications, and epidural injections. Opting for a minimally invasive approach, he underwent implantation of ReActiv8®, focusing on rehabilitating the impaired multifidus muscle. Over a 12-month therapy period, significant improvements were noted in pain levels, functionality, and quality of life, leading to a full return to work. Interestingly, follow-up imaging showed not only a substantial reduction in pain but also an unexpected resolution of the LDH at L4-L5, enhanced lumbar lordosis, and improved disc hydration, despite minor progressing Modic changes. This case underlines the potential of restorative neuro-stimulation in CLBP management, especially when the pain origin is non-discogenic. It emphasizes the importance of accurate pain source identification in CLBP treatment and suggests further research into the efficacy and applicability of neurostimulation in similar clinical scenarios.
